MUUTO x MILANO DESIGN WEEK 2024

During Milan Design Week 2024, I stepped into the Muuto Milan Apartment, a space designed to evoke the feeling of home. Through Scandinavian design principles and neuroaesthetics, the apartment explored how nature, light, form, colour, and tactility shape well-being.

Muuto presented six immersive rooms, inviting us to ponder how intentional design enriches our living spaces.

Rather than showcasing singular products, Muuto focused on creating evocative atmospheres. Their design philosophy embraces a holistic interplay of art, architecture, and biophilia. Each room celebrated a neuroaesthetic principle, drawing connections between design and human emotion.

Six Spaces, One Journey

Each room in the Muuto Milan Apartment brought a unique perspective to design.

In room 1 light was the star, with natural and artificial sources accentuating the transformative beauty of space. Repetitive patterns harmonised the design, creating rhythm. In room 2; bursts of vibrant colour set a welcoming mood, complemented by round furniture and lively decor. The use of tactile elements heightened its sensory appeal. Room 3 combined organic forms and natural materials creates a calming retreat. Lounge chairs and greenery echoed tranquillity.

Room 4 was all smooth curves and soft hues inviting warmth, intimacy, and social connection. The Midst Table became the centerpiece of interactionn an absolute stunner. Bold Kelly Green walls and green textiles brought vibrancy to room 5. The Earnest Extendable Table anchored the room as a gathering space for family and friends. Room 6 was designed for focus and relaxation, it offered versatile lighting and modular furniture, demonstrating how functional spaces can foster well-being.

Reflections on intentional living

The Muuto Milan Apartment wasn’t just a showcase of design but a call to reimagine our homes as spaces of purpose and contentment. Each room’s deliberate interplay of light, form, and texture inspired a renewed appreciation for intentionality. This immersive experience left me considering how design can transform spaces and our lives.
